PrEP is available in selected pharmacies. Cost currently € 59,- / € 60,- per pack. These are generics which are blistered.
The prerequisite for this is a private prescription from an HIV specialist. Currently, neither the PrEP costs nor the costs of necessary examinations for the PrEP start and for the PrEP checks are being replaced by the health insurance companies.

You have to make an appointment with an HIV-specialist and he or she will make blood-examinations. If everything is ok you will get the prescription and go to one of two pharmacies to get the PrEP. Follow-up checks should be done each 3 months for getting a new prescription.
Wien:
Vorerst benötigst du einen Termin bei einem HIV-Spezialisten. DieseR macht Bluttests. Wenn bei diesen Tests alles in Ordnung ist, stellt er dir ein Privatrezept aus, dass du in einer von zwei Apotheken in Wien einlösen kannst. Alle drei Monate müssen dann Blutuntersuchungen wiederholt werden, damit man ein neues Privatrezept bekommt.
Burgenland and Lower Austria:
If you are from one of these two regions, you have to go to Vienna if you want to get PrEP.
There are no HIV-specialists or clinics for prescribing PrEP.
Burgenland und Niederösterreich:

Aids Hilfe Carinthia has a cooperation with Gemeinschaftspraxis Dr. Schalk / Dr. Pichler.
Aids Hilfe Carinthia is doing the blood tests, sending them to the doctors office and they send back the prescription.
After a consultation with Aids Hilfe Carinthia the prescription will be forwarded to you and you can get the PrEP at the Kornblumen Pharmacy in Grafenstein (a village near
Klagenfurt). The pharmacy has the blistered PrEP always on stock. The phone number and the direction of the pharmacy will be handed out to you at the consultation with the prescription.
Kärnten:
Die Aids Hilfe Kärnten kooperiert mit der Gemeinschaftspraxis Dr. Schalk / Dr. Pichler. Die notwendigen Untersuchungen werden von der Aids Hilfe Kärnten durchgeführt, welche die Befunde in die Praxis schicken. Die Ärzte schicken dann ein Privatrezept zurück.
In einem persönlichen Gespräch wird dann das Privatrezept übergeben, welches in der Kornblumen Apotheke in Grafenstein (eine Ortschaft nahe Klagenfurt) eingelöst werden kann. Diese Apotheke hat die kostengünstige PrEP immer auf Lager. Die Telefonnummer und der Anfahrtsweg wird beim persönlichen Gespräch ausgehändigt.

In Tyrol you are turning to the HIV specialists at the clinic in Innsbruck for prescribing
the cost-effective PrEP. Currently the first personal appointment takes place about a week after making the appointment. At this appointment advice, clarification and if necessary medical checks take place. Another appointment will be done for returning the test results and the prescription.
The PrEP itself is available directly there or in a pharmacy near the clinic.

Before starting with PrEP and as a requirement for getting the prescription, there are some blood tests which should be done:
1. HIV-antibody-laboratory test (diagnostical period: 6 weeks) – NO HIV-rapid- or self-test
2. Hepatitis-vaccination: control if you are still vaccinating or get vaccinated
